Penn Ridge KC & B Match

The membership of the Penn Ridge Kennel Club, while planning our annual match competition, wanted to make the day special, something for the canine community, and those plans turned into the Penn Ridge Kennel Club'sfirst "B" Match and Canine Septemberfest held September 23, 2006 at Pryzuskies Drive Inn in Harrow, PA.

The grounds were spacious and the match was enhanced by all the other activities planned for a fun filled, educational day to coincide with the AKC's Responsible Dog Ownership activities held throughout September.

In addition to the "B" Match competition, where dogs get to practice their ring performance for AKC conformation shows, the day featured a Parade of Champions and Titleholders, Junior Showmanship Class, Best Veteran Competition and a Canine Costume Contest, which was as much fun for entrants as spectators. There was a free Beginners Handling Class before the mach for those unfamiliar wih conformation judging.

Also, on hand was Dr. Walskie of the Meadowbrook Animal Hospital, who spoke on Animal Chiropractic and Acupuncture Treatments, a PRKC member who discussed Responsible Dog Ownershiop and the benefits of Positive ID... why Microchip Your Dog?... a Microchip clinic was held, there was a talk on Disaster Preparedness for your Dog(s), the benefits of Lifetime Registration, and there were many handouts available from the Penn Ridge Kennel Club on AKC activities, ILP registration for non AKC dogs, and AKC competitive event information.

There were vendors with dog related items, a demonstration by the Buck County Search & Rescue group, who manned a booth all day long to introduce their canine members to the public.

The day was a huge success and drew much attention from the public and the local media. The Penn Ridge Kennel Club members responsible for this wonderful event are now busy planning the next Canine Septemberfest for Saturday, September 19, 2009.

Hats off to the members of the Penn Ridge Kennel Club for giving this day to the community, and a special thanks to Susan Watts, Denice & John Van Driesen, Lydia Butler, Cindy Horvath, and their friends and families for manning all the activities for the day!!!!
