AKC Shows

Since its inception in 1954, the Penn Ridge Kennel Club has held shows in various locations including Hilltown, Kulpsville, New Hope and Ottsville.

2010 Shows

The Penn Ridge Kennel Club will again hold two shows in 2010 as part of the three day Keystone Cluster in Harrisburg, PA.:

Friday, August 13, 2010- PRKC All Breed Show & Rally Competition
Saturday, August 14, 2010- PRKC All Breed Show & Obedience Trial

Each day also includes Junior Showmanship Competition classes for children and their dogs.

The shows are located at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisbug, PA., in the air conditioned Expo Hall.

Our new indoor air conditioned site was extremely well received by the fancy. The Farm Show Complex offers plenty of parking, is easily accessible for those coming from a distance to our shows, and affords exhibitors, vendors and spectators the opportunity to enjoy the events of the weekend without concern for heat or rain.

Our August shows draw over 125 different AKC breeds, and the Obedience and Rally Competition are big hits with the exhibitors.

The shows also feature many vendors who bring a wide variety of unusual merchandise for dogs and dog lovers.

For the premium list, to enter our shows, or sign up as a vendor please contact sunup1001@comcast.net for more information and concessions contract.

Admission to our shows is $6.00 for anyone over 12; children under 12 accompanied by an adult are admitted free. Please print and bring the coupon below for a $1.00 discount on your admission:

Junior Showmanship

The Penn Ridge Kennel Club support AKC Junior Showmanship activities as a way to encourage young people in our sport, realizing that today's Juniors will go on to become tomorrow's successful breeders, exhibitors, judges and club members who will take over as guardians of the AKC purebred dogs that we love.

We offer great prizes, such as all day passes to HERSHEYPARK and electronics, for our Junior Showmanship classes and sponsor an educational clinic for Juniors at our Friday show with a luncheon and raffle just for participants. In addition, the AKC George Ward Scholarship fund will be receiving the proceeds from our evening charity event, the Caribbean Cruise Casino Night on Saturday, August 14th.

AKC RHP Juniors Clinic

In addition to supporting our Juniors Classes with great prizes, including all day passes to HERSHEYPARK, Savings Bonds, Vendor Bucks and sponsor prizes, Penn Ridge Kennel Cub is also proud to present, with other Sponsors the AKC, Purina, and Royal Canin, an AKC Registered Handlers “Handlers of Tomorrow” Juniors Clinic where our professional handlers and AKC Executive Field Representatives donate their time and expertise to help our Juniors better their handling skills.

At the Juniors Clinic the Penn Ridge Kennel Club also sponsors a raffle with great prizes, this year to include a first prize of $500 toward the winner's expenses to exhibit in the Junior Showmanship at the Westminster Kennel Club in NYC, HERSHEYPARK tickets, and more, as well as lunch provided for the participants of the clinic.

The 2010 RHP Junior Clinic will be held on Friday, August 13th, so don't be superstitous and join us for a great opportunity to learn from the professionals. There is no fee to attend this clinic and much to learn from working with the experts. Juniors do not need to be entered in the show to attend the clinic. Registration will be at the show on August 13.

HERSHEYPARK 2010

Dog shows are a family sport, and HERSHEYPARK and Dutch Wonderland are family fun places to visit. HERSHEYPARK is located in Hershey, Pa, about a half hour from our show site, and Dutch Wonderland is located in Lancaster, Pa.

We are proud to offer All Day Passes to HERSHEYPARK as part of our Junior Showmanship and Handlers of Tomorrow prizes.

Monte Carlo Night to Benefit Take the Lead

Take the Lead is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to provide assistance to those terminally and chronically ill people in the fancy who need some help and is funded 100% from donations made by individuals and groups. Each year there are several benefit dinners in various parts of the country to raise funds for this most worthwhile cause close to allof us in the sport of purebred dogs. For more information about the organization, go to www.takethelead.org

Because of the support our shows have been able to provide to Take the Lead in the past few years, we were asked to host an evening event to benefit the organization.

Since we work hard to make the Keystone Cluster a fun weekend for all who support us, it was decided that we wanted the evening event to be fun for all as well, and the idea of the Monte Carlo night was born.

It was our goal to level the playing field in order to make the night more fun for all. At the Monte Carlo night, everyone had a great time and everyone had a chance at the great prizes while raising almost $40,000 to benefit Take the Lead!

The huge success of our initial Monte Carlo evening and the generosity of our sponsors and supporters has enabled the Penn Ridge Kennel Club to plan for another charity event in 2010.

Caribbean Cruise Casino Night 2010

This year’s evening charity event, our Caribbean Cruise Casino Night will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

Everyone is invited to “dress up” in their bright island colors or cruise wear on Saturday, August 14th and join us after the show for the Caribbean Cruise Casino event, held right at the PA Farm Show.

For an admission donation of $75, each person will receive dinner, with buffet stations open throughout the evening, play money for the games of chance, and a ticket for the prize raffle to be held at the end of the evening. If you lose your play money, you can purchase more, or your can purchase additional raffle tickets. There will also be a DJ playing music for dancing and listening pleasure for those folks who don’t “feel lucky” at the games of chance. At the end of the evening, play money is turned in for more raffle tickets.

All prizes are raffled “Chinese Auction” style so that every ticket stands an equal chance of winning the great prizes, which this year include a first prize worth $5,000, along with other prizes including trips, equipment, and more.

Tickets for the Caribbean Cruise Casino Night and the raffle can be purchased at the shows on Friday and Saturday.

Proceeds from the Caribbean Cruise Casino Night will be donated to the AKC George Ward Scholarship Fund.

The Penn Ridge Kennel Club would like to thank each of our sponsors and supporters whose generosity makes the event possible.

Life’s a gamble….take a chance at the Caribbean Cruise Casino Night and help a great cause.
